El Hamamsy Marine Services Ltd, our correspondents in Alexandria, Egypt, has provided us with the following information.

Based on a recent grounding of one vessel back on 27.01.2013 at Alexandria Port’s Fairway channel. Please note that we were investigating the  change of the buoys system at the Port (as possibly wrongly shifted). 

To our surprise another vessel grounded at almost the same spot on 03.02.2013. No detailed information is available yet  about how/if  the position of the buoys is changed/ wrongly shifted.

However we find it of great importance that Vessels/ masters pay special attention when approaching Alexandria Port Fairway and navigate there with utmost diligence and caution, and not to consider buoys positions as granted, until the positions of these buoys at the area is verified.
