In the last two weeks one local recovery lawyer has placed two embargoes on ships in order to secure claims by Underwriters of cargo interests.
We would therefore warn interests of ships calling at Peru that their ships may be routinely detained without warning by local courts pursuing claims for shortages or damage to cargo.
It is suggested that all preventive measures be taken at load port or intermediate ports to ensure cargo matches quantities and quality as described in the respective bills of lading.
