As from March 13th, 2008, a lock out called by agriculture goods’ producers has been faced, which is causing sever inconveniences specialy related to the arrival of grains to port’s silos/depots/crushing plants.

The main reason of the lock out is the export tax increases decree by the government. As a consequence of the lock out, main motorways, roads all around the country have been blocked by the farmers/grain producers. At present time it would appear that negotiations between farmer’s associations and government will take place at any moment now but we are not able at present time to predict how this conflict will develop.

For your guidance port terminals and shore labours are working normally, but the problem is the cargo availability.

Due to the above, the Coastugard Traffic Control is requesting from every vessel arriving to Recalada Pilot Station the type of cargo that she is intended to load. In case of grain loader not having relevant permit (from the load terminal) to proceed upstream, they are not allowed to transit the Punta Indio Channel and have to remain at orders at Recalada anchoring area. There are currently about 30 vessels anchored at Zona Comun (Buenos Aires Roads) and other within River Parana System. In such cases (when grain loaders are not allowed to enter the Punta Indio Channel), vessels should tender notice of readiness from Recalada Pilot Station.
