On November 14th 2017 the Brazilian Customs Authority reintroduced the obligation of the consignee submitting the original B/L in order to be able to take delivery.

The decision comes as a relief for carriers and should be praised as it reduces the exposure to wrongful delivery claims and realigns the procedure of taking delivery of goods in accordance with international law and requirements, our local correspondent PROINDE reports.
