The Chittagong Customs House of Bangladesh Customs Authority has lately issued an order requiring aboratory testing of samples of Indian white Sugar at Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST), Dhaka. The samples are being tested to determine following:

1. If the commodity is refined white sugar
2. If it is not refined white sugar than what commodity it is
3. If the commodity contains hydrose or hydrogen per oxide and the level of concentration if any.
4. If the commodity is fit for human consumption

Cargo samples drawn from the vessel are sent to Dhaka by the messenger of Chittagong Customs House for necessary testing. The whole process may take four days to one week time. The cost of the test is to be borne by the importer.

Members while fixing their vessel for Chittagong to carry a cargo of Indian White Sugar should take into consideration possible delay to their vessel that may be caused due to the new test requirement and they may also consider taking necessary precautions against any complication and delay that may be caused if the cargo sample does not pass the test by IFST.
