The invitations and registration forms have now been posted on our web for the MRM Workshop Leader training and meeting events in Manila and Gothenburg in April. An important agenda item at the Workshop Leader meetings will be the presentation of the new MRM module on Pilotage and VTS. Effective pilotage and VTS certainly help to prevent incidents. Still, accident statistics show that many accidents take place with pilots and/or VTS involved. Due to the sensitive areas when pilots and VTS are involved, the consequences of incidents may be severe. Very often, when things have gone wrong, important contributing factors seem to be related to lack of MRM. This is what we aim at addressing in the new module with the purpose of making this part of ship operation as safe as possible.

We welcome both prospective and certified MRM Workshop Leaders to attend the events. Attendance at the meeting will meet the requirement for recurrent refresher training for MRM Workshop Leaders.

The meetings will also provide good opportunities for new MRM training providers to join the MRM network. Training providers who wish to join the network should make contact with the undersigned first.

Occasionally we rotate the opportunity between MRM training providers to act as host for these kind of events and this time we are pleased to welcome you to PHILCAMSAT’s facilities in Makati City for the Manila event. PHILCAMSAT is a long time member of the MRM network and was one of the first to join, already in 1998. The Gothenburg event will take place at the facilities of The Swedish Club Academy.
