For this year’s MIS in Zhuhai, The Swedish Club’s Team Hong Kong presented an introduction to the different areas of marine insurance i.e. P&I, FD&D, H&M and the Club’s Loss Prevention initiatives.

The Club’s Managing Director and Area Manager in Asia, Ruizong Wang, welcomed all participants, consisting of members and brokers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Lars A. Malm, Director Strategic Business Development & Client Relations, proudly presented the history of The Swedish Club, established in 1872, and the country Sweden, (a vast country with 9.6 million inhabitants) where many global innovations have seen the light of day.

Martin Hernqvist, Managing Director of The Swedish Club Academy, showed us why attitudes matter and what it means to safety at sea when attitudes and communication do not work.

We also had the pleasure of inviting external speakers such as Peter Murphy from Holman Fenwick Willan, Matthew Cao from Richards Hogg Lindley HK and Dave Wisse from SMIT Salvage (Asia).

Peter clearly explained the new implications of the Insurance Act 2015. Mathew presented the background of General Average and Dave shared the insights of Salvage and showed some very interesting cases and how SMIT has handled them.
