Members are referred to Member Alert issued on 7 March 2017 about travel restrictions affecting vessel crews from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The restrictions have been legally challenged. On 26 June, however, the US Supreme Court permitted the restrictions, with some minor easings. Hence, the situation can be summarised as follows:
- Crewmembers from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen will not be able to enter the US unless they hold valid visas, and they will not be able to obtain visas until 90 days.
- The suspension does not apply to nationals from those six countries who can establish a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with an individual or entity in the U.S.
