At The Swedish Club, we have formed five teams to pinpoint the specialist knowledge and experience of claims handlers across our offices. The Specialist Claims Teams have leading roles on competence development, enhancing decision-making, and pooling knowledge and expertise to improve services for our members.
Annica Nordberg, who worked for The Swedish Club between 2004 and 2008 and rejoined the Club in 2023 after 15 years working for a law firm where she specialised in commercial dispute resolution, is perfectly placed to head up the Club’s FD&D Specialist Claims Team.
For Annica, the most important aspect of the work handled by her team is the management of the aggregated knowledge and expertise that resides in The Swedish Club. As she explains, “By that I mean ensuring that we utilise our collective know-how in the best possible way, to ensure the best possible service to our Members. In addition, we also make sure that we educate and market ourselves properly, with the aim of addressing emerging regulatory challenges and strengthening our services further.”
By working within specialist teams, Annica believes that there is an opportunity for the claims handlers to get to know each other across the various offices rather than simply working with their local teams. This facilitates cooperation and ensures that the Club’s Members receive the best possible service, thereby fostering trust and strengthened relationships, aligning with The Swedish Club’s Member-centric approach. “Just as important, we all enjoy this way of working and find it engaging and fun,” she adds.
With team members from all the Club’s offices, the team holds regular meetings, not only in the Specialist Claims Team but with all FD&D claims handlers, to discuss current issues and trends, challenging cases, and collaborative initiatives. The result is well-functioning knowledge management and an effective working team providing excellent service, both in terms of claim resolutions and long-term strategic support.
In response to a query about what drew her to work at The Swedish Club, Annica cited the international environment, collaborative culture, and the Club’s pro-active ethos to embrace change in a very much traditional environment
And, so far as career highlights at The Swedish Club go, Annica has many, and of all sorts. “I really enjoy finding a quick and pragmatic solution to a relatively minor issue, while I equally get great satisfaction from seeing complex cases through mediation or arbitration should that be the most cost-effective and reasonable solution. It is all about service and achieving the best possible outcome. I also enjoy contributing to initiatives that enhance our claims processes and Member engagement,” she concludes.
